Maybe the lifetime of the tire depends on how often you ride. You commute a long distance and steady speed, so the tires get warmed up every day. I commute a short distance (10 miles round-trip) daily so my tires get warmed up but not as much as yours.
Maybe if the tires sit for a long time between rides the rubber compound doesn't last as long?
